About the author

When I was a teenager, I felt God was calling me to write a book. I didn’t expect much to come from it, but I started anyway. Back then, I wrote short pieces and emailed them to friends, sharing lessons I was learning from God. Even though it was just a small thing, I stayed committed. My friends encouraged me, so I kept going, and my writing grew longer. My first published article appeared in my friend Janet Camilleri’s women’s magazine, Footprints. After that, I wrote for other magazines whenever I could. While doing this, I began my first book. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I kept writing. Around this time, I started my master’s degree at Bible college and eventually finished my book. In my first year, my teachers suggested I enter a new competition called the Australian Christian Book of the Year awards, run by SparkLit. There were three categories: Australian Christian Book of the Year, Australian Theological Book of the Year, and Young Australian Christian Writer of the Year. I had never won anything before, so I didn’t expect much. I was surprised to be named the winner for Young Australian Christian Writer of the Year in 2007. My book was published the next year. After some disagreements with the Australian publisher, I decided to publish the book myself. The book you see now is the result of years of work. I’m now working on a second book called 'Chained No More,' and its a labour of love for now. As I am also a mother to two teenage daughters, I take whatever opportunities I can to write.
